Free small business websites and hosting for select retail businesses businesses. The websites are self-service and supported by small unobstrusive advertisements on the sites.
We have developed a quick and easy process for you to get your retail business website online at no cost. First, you learn how to develop and edit your website in our our playground. This process is really no more difficult than say, using Microsoft Word to write some letters. In our "playground" you can work at your own speed and let your friends and colleges review your efforts, but the search engines won't index them.
Once you have your basic website ready in our "playground", a site that explains what your business it about, where it's location, the hours, how to contact you, etc, then your ready to make it real, add photos and more enchancements.
Some of the enchancements we have available are a blog, and a resource directory. We also have some templates in development that will allow to easily add menus, event calenders, product and service listings to your website with ease. You'll just create the information in a simple spreadsheet and upload it. The spreadsheet will be automatically converted to an easy to read section on your website.
For example, if your business is a restaurant, you would create a simple menu in Microsoft Excel. It would include each section from your menu, each item, its description, price and name of the photo. After you upload the spreadsheet, your website would include a menu showing all your delicious food. Anytime you make a change in your items or prices, just upload the updated spreadsheet and your website immediately reflects the changes. The same for event calenders, and product or service listings.
A great website is always more than just your product or service information. People are always hungry for more information. That's why Google gets billions of searches every day. The more interesting information you can offer on your website, the better. We have two ways to help.
First, our resource directories. You can add a "directory" to your website. This allows other webmasters to list their websites in your resource directory. There are several important points to keep in mind with this. First, you want to develop resources that are on a similar topic to yours. If you have a restaurants, resources about other restaurants, food, recipes, and smilar topics are good. For example, there would be little point in developing a resource directory about new home construction.
You might ask, I have a restaurant, why do I want to have resources that list other restaurants, ie: my competition! It is simply because people are hungry not only for your delicious food, but more information. Without offering any similar resources, people will simply go to Google, Yahoo or any of millions of other places to find your competition. But creating a comprehensive resource listings of restaurant and food topics then you have a chance of being the place people start their search from.
Offering the resource directory is easy. You just need to review submissions a couple times a week and approve the quality websites that have been submitted and are related to your topic. Unfortantely, you'll have to delete endless submissions of work at home and other unrelated websites. The key here is to develope a comprehensive resource listing related to the subject of your business. The only disadvantage of this is it will take time.
Second is our blog. What is a blog? It is really a journal of sorts. A blog of a list of dated entries that you write (which others can comment on). A blog is a little more difficult to create because you need to write regularly. Our recommendation is to write a post of 300 to 1,000 words 3 or 4 times a week.
These blog posts can be about new things happening at your business, informational articles that relate to the topic of your business, or even little reviews of websites you like. The key rules with your blog is 1) to write posts regularly, and 2) to write posts that are related to the topic of your business. The advantage of regularly writing for your blog is that it can very quickly develop interest in your business and your website. The disadvantage developing the routine of writing regularly.
Some of the enhanced options allow for a resource directory, blog, restaurant menu, product listings, etc.
